Missing Time

I haven’t written in a while. Stating the obvious, I know…

I believe the Wellbutrin helps, but not always. I am often ” happy,” sometimes for days, and in the middle of this supposed happiness I become so incredibly sad. Seemingly for or no reason. Nothing will trigger it. I feel like a yo-yo.

I wish … I don’t know what I wish to be honest…

Today is one of those days; I have NO reason to feel this way. I always look for something to justify my feelings. The reasons make no sense but I force them to fit the puzzle of my mind so, at the very least, I feel sane.

Perhaps I have given the impression that I am now okay. That I am coping better. That I have better skills to deal with the demons of my mind.

Nothing is further from the truth. I have seldom and random periods of peace, but I am in no way healthy. They are not real.

I just know I am not where I need to be. I know I am not supposed to be here, so why am I?

I am exhausted. I feel out of place. I feel like someone threw me in a tornado and said “here, make sense of this. You better put every single piece back together as if nothing happened, or else.”
Well… I will tell you that “or else” always hits.
Always.
Without fail.
Every single things gets shattered and I am asked to glue it back together, perfectly, without missing the tiniest piece. And I try. God I try so hard. I am always determined to not miss a single piece. Yet I fail. Every single time.

I still hurt… all the time. I am so incredibly exhausted. I tell myself this isn’t real. I know this is not real … but living it “feels” real.
How do you fight against a… “fictitious reality”?

I have been in weekly therapy for a few months. I believe it has helped but I am not always certain of what is real; perhaps therapy is only a placebo. If it is… I’ll take it, because a bit of imaginary relief is better than none.
I feel temporary relief only when therapy ends and a few days after the fact.

But then … then I run full speed into this permanently stationed wall inside my mind.
I see it.
I feel the impact.
I know I should stop running toward it yet I can’t stop myself.
Nothing I do stops me.
Any safety net and any barriers I erect disappear and I hit this wall full speed and I shatter. Into a billion pieces.
Every.Single.Time.

After the impact, I get up and try to pick up every single shattered piece of me and glue it back together. Yet every single time, a single shard goes missing. Therefore, I am never whole again.

Many years ago my primary care physician told me that one never gets over depression. They just learn to manage it. It shocked and saddened me. Hearing and knowing that I will have to deal with this my entire life was paralyzing. Yet here I am.

I wish I was numb. I am not a better person or a better parent in any way. I have lost interest in my children; I am an unfeeling monster. They were my life and now… now I feel like a failure… the lowest of the low.
When my ex-husband suggested he have full custody I felt like I could kill him in that moment and not regret it. The mere thought made me insane.
Yet now… now… I feel guilt when my youngest tells me he misses me so much. And I feel nothing… well, perhaps I feel a bit of guilt which quickly passes. And THAT makes me a monster.

When you see your child every day and he tells you he misses you, you know YOU are the problem.

I was SUCH a fighter. Nothing ever stood in my way. If I wanted it I got it. If someone told me it was not possible, I made it possible. Now…
Now… I’ve just given up. Everything seems hopeless. As I think about it, even as I write this, I know what I am saying and I know these feelings are not real, yet here I am, without any ability to shake this “fictitious feeling” that I should not exist.
How do you overcome your heart when depression turns it to logic? How do you fight an imaginary reality. I know… oxymoron. It’s a rhetorical question.

I suppose I should be grateful that my children are my only anchor, keeping me tethered to life. Sometimes I wish they did not. I wish they did not have such an impact on my life because the lifeline that holds me down is under such pressure that I feel it fraying. It will eventually snap.

The funny things is that I drink to “feel” not “stop feeling.” Drinking helps me feel … human. I feel devoid of humanity when I am sober.

My Own Personal Hell

I have not written in a while. I have also not been okay.

I have had a medication change – a dopamine uptake – and it has helped tremendously. But it is not enough.

I am a wreck for no reason. No reason at all. I battle my head every moment of every day. I obsess, I analyze and my perception becomes fucked up and people end up getting hurt.

I tried to talk to someone, it didn’t work out. I am looking for someone else. I desperately need to get better.

I hurt… I am in constant, agonizing pain and I there is no reason for it. None.

I have not thrown out my old prescriptions… because I believe, one day, I will be compelled to take them all.

Often I count them. I know it takes 2000 mg to cause irreparable damage.
I know that if I take 1200 mg of my current medication, it will cause seizures,  cardiovascular issues and most likely worse.

I should not know this. I don’t want to know this information.

I am not okay, yet I pretend every day that I am. Fake until you make it does not work. It’s exhausting.

“Home”

I live in a constant state of panic, pain, loneliness and fear…

Fear of making mistakes.
Fear of succeeding.
Fear of being sad.
Fear of being happy.
Fear of losing someone.
Fear of keeping them.

A  suffocating darkness has embraced me with such fierceness that I am unable to function or think.  It rarely loosens its grip.
I struggle with emotions, memories and anxiety that are forever present; they are my constant companions. I am left disconnected and incapable of trusting anyone including the truth when it stares me down.

My sense of safety and security has been shattered; I feel helpless and isolated. I am surrounded by people every day yet I feel alone and am incredibly lonely.

I am breathing but I am not alive.
I smile but I am dejected.
I laugh but I feel only despair.
I feel confident yet powerless.

I am stuck in this vicious circle of sadness and inconsolable grief. I don’t know what or who I am grieving. Perhaps myself.

The lure of permanent sleep so strong that I often think it may just be the best thing for me.
Just think… no more tears, no more grief, no more pain, no more turmoil. It has become a horrifyingly beautiful and inviting dream.

The abyss beckons me every day with promises of peace. It is enticing and it has convinced me it is “home.”

… how can I possibly refuse to go … “home”…

Take me as I am

I am not a religious individual. Even when I was a child I didn’t believe in God.

I’ve always had this feeling of wanting to go “home.” I thought that meant a place or a person. In fact I mean I want a peaceful sleep to never wake from. It means I don’t want to be here and experience this.

For as religious as I am not… today for the first time ever I asked god to take me. I don’t want to go but I feel this indescribable desire to not be here.

I just want peace and I don’t know how to get it. I want to sleep and wake up “normal.” I want him or her to take me already. I just want to go “home.”

I hate that I can’t be “normal.”

I hate that my mother saved my life four years ago.

It takes massive amounts of effort to keep myself here and I am exhausted.

No Help

Decided to discontinue medication. I know the withdrawal symptoms will be horrific but they are not helping and am unwilling to continue to adjust them or switch.

Trial and error does not work for me.

The withdrawal symptoms have begun already and I’ve only missed my dose last night and not taken my morning.

The nausea began last night and is getting more intense. Soon the dizziness will follow, the drop or raise in blood pressure will hit too. I’m just praying they will not last long.

And if they do… hoping alcohol will knock me out so I don’t feel it…

This is the beginning of my giving up…

… wish me luck …

The Pattern of my Life

I have taken a needle and worked my pattern. Patiently, yet mindlessly one stitch at a time.

Today my life’s pattern finally became a full picture:

I have never been ashamed of how quickly I fall or how much I love.

I love fully. I love completely.
I love flaws and imperfections.

I am incapable of holding back. I want to.
I desperately need to learn to hold back.

People believe my type of love is beautiful, it isn’t. It comes at a price:

I give in. Always.
I don’t ask for compromises; my number one priority is the other person’s wants, needs and happiness.
I have doubts but don’t voice them.
I immerse myself in the other person so fully, so completely that I see nothing but them.
I allow myself to be used.
My wants and needs are pushed aside.
I become unimportant to myself.

I have lost myself.
I don’t know who I am.
I can’t find any semblance of who I was before.
I have however remained naive and gullible.
I don’t know how to connect with myself.

I don’t know how to change.

How do you change who you are?
How do you turn off your feelings?
How do you harden your heart?
How do you stop thinking?

In the end… I am always left all alone, in love, to pick up every piece of my shattered soul.
